A For Apothecary's Glacial Clay mask is a 100% natural cosmetic clay sourced from a deposit that has recently been discovered in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Comprised of nontronite, illite and kaolin clays, Glacial Clay was gradually formed over the span of millions of years from the continuous striking of ancient glacial ice with volcanic ash. Green nontronite is a rare, mineral-rich clay that belongs to the smectite group of clay minerals.
Glacial Clay is a highly versatile clay that is suitable for all skin types including sensitive and maturing skin. Glacial Clay possesses a very fine particle size that makes it remarkably effective at absorbing dirt and other impurities while providing gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells. It is a pure clay that is abundant in minerals that are beneficial for the skin. Glacial Clay rejuvenates dull skin, improves its appearance, helps to balance skin tone and leaves the skin feeling softer yet firmer.
Our Glacial Clay masks also makes a great and safe skincare for pregnant women and breastfeeding moms.
Powdered clay masks are amazing as it is totally preservative free! Over the counter pre-mixed clay masks may save you an extra 2 minutes but they are loaded with preservatives with reduces the effects of the clay and may cause more harm to your skin and body when used over a long period of time.
Here's 3 simple recipes using A For Apothecary Glacial Clay Mask which you can try at home.
1. 3 INGREDIENT FUSS-FREE MASK
This recipe is no frills. Use it twice a week to detox pores, hydrate skin and soothe redness.
- 1 tablespoon clay mask
- 2 tablespoons lavender hydrosol (or distilled water/tea of your choice. I would recommend green tea.)
- 2-3 drops rose glow elixir (optional)
2. BRIGHTENING HONEY MASK
Honey is one of nature's most beloved skin remedies. It is great for acne-prone skin and combats acne. For best results, use raw honey or manuka honey.
- 1 tablespoon clay mask
- 1 tablespoons raw honey
- 2-3 drops rose glow elixir (optional)
3. NATURAL AHA MASK
Yogurt contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid, that dissolves dead skin cells. This gentle exfoliation not only helps to create a natural glow and prevent breakouts, but works to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It's recommended to use unsweetened greek yogurt for best results.
- 1 tablespoon clay mask
- 1 tablespoons greek yogurt unsweetened
- 2-3 drops rose glow elixir (optional)
Instructions:
Combine the ingredients into a ceramic/plastic bowl using a non-metal utensil. Add more or less water or clay as need until you get a smooth clay paste. Apply the paste to your skin, avoiding the eye and lip areas. Wash off after 10 minutes.
It's normal to add too much or too little clay the first time. Balance it out by adding more water if the paste is too dry or add more clay if the paste is too watery.
Tips to note:
Do not let glacial clay contact metal parts. metal will cause the clay to become less effective due to its ionic charges.
If you mix too much, that’s ok! Seal in an airtight container and store in your refrigerator to use another time. You can safely store your clay up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
Have fun masking!
